March 20, 2008 - Just for your information: There has been a Notice of Filing of Application for Commission Approval of a Site Plan - Applicant is requesting a five - year extension. This is about the "Park Central Section 1, Block A, Lot 1" land that is just outside of our neighborhood, south and east of where Indian Mound Drive intersects with North Lamar Boulevard. Folder Information February 17, 2007 - To RONA Members - Time is of the essence! We have had several neighbors approach us about enforcing the ordinance that "prohibits parking in the front lawn or side lawn." The ordinance can't be enforced (tickets/fines issued) unless the majority of the neighborhood votes to have the ordinance enforced within our neighborhood. February is the month to get the paperwork to city to have our neighborhood added to the "restricted parking area map." Before we can submit the paperwork we have to take a vote to see if the majority of the neighborhood is in agreement with the ordinance. It's too late in the day to call a neighborhood meeting. I'm not sure if we'll be able to get door to door in time to make the February 28th deadline - but we will try. It would be helpful to get the word out about the deadline and ask neighbors to come by our house at 1409 Cardinal Hill Drive after 6pm weekdays or anytime on the weekend to fill out a ballot before Feb 28th.Thanks, Diane Marie Luden 512-974-7112 October 23, 2006 - Our neighborhood is nicer because of the diligence of a few. I just heard from someone who actively reports violations of the City of Austin Codes. I must admit that I was unfamiliar with a few of these codes, but it is nice to know that some things that I tend to just grumble about (weeds, accumulated junk, storage of vehicles) do have laws on the books forbidding them. Report suspected violations to 3-1-1 or send an email. Keep Austin Weird, but also Keep Austin Beautiful. June 1, 2006 - If anyone gets notices of zoning changes, please notify others in the neighborhood. Zoning notices only go to people w/in 300 feet of a site, so not everyone in the neighborhood will get them. Traffic is bad enough around here without letting the city give higher and higher zoning to the land around us.
I would like to express my appreciation to Metropolitan Austin Interactive Network for sponsoring free Internet sites for non-profit groups in the Austin area. Questions or comments about the River Oaks Neighborhood Association? Contact Us
