Rosewood Neighborhood Contact Team Monthly Meeting Thursday, May 21, 2009 Mt. Newly elected officers are: Chair Jane Rivera Vice-Chair Dusty McCormick Secretary Linda Hutchins Old Busines ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CapMetro-Dinita Caldwell MetroRail service start dated is estimated for end of June, into July. Continued delays are due to safety issues, i.e. signals, timing of gate arms, certification of engineers. All stations are complete. There will be curb cuts and sidewalk improvements at MLK crossing; a median w/double gates will be installed at Rosewood Avenue crossing. Future update by CapMetro will be offered in mid June. A handout was offered re CapMetro Service Plan 2020, a comprehensive analysis of entire CapMetro bus system for next 10 years to implement improved design of bus services, cost effectiveness and increase in transit ridership; community meetings and openhouse events to be held in August and November 2009 and throughout entire project. Foundation Communities-Sunshine Mathon Plans for M Station, the green transit-oriented family-focused affordable housing project were recently presented to TDHC with written letters of support from RNCT and Austin Heights. Results will be known in June/July. The project will provide 148 units with a number of units available for families. Grant was applied for from Enterprise Foundation. If accepted, tax credits are available to lender to help subsidize cost. COA Neighborhood Planning & Zoning Dept-Molly Scarbrough Station Area Plan and TOD Zoning was adopted 3/12/09 (Featherlite property adopted 4/2/09). Implementation items in progress are training for Development Review staff. Stimulus funding applied for re MLK/Airport and Manor/Airport intersection improvements and shared use path on MLK (from Airport to Alexander). Misc. Projects in East Austin: PARD will be making improvements to Rosewood Rec Center, to include a new children's "splash pad" next to main pool; Boggy Creek restoration project likely to begin Fall 2010. *Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
