Guests: Dinita Caldwell, Capital Metro. Chair's Report ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Introductions and motion to approve August minutes. Dusty McCormick initiated a discussion regarding a recent meeting he attended with McKinley Heights residents and APD (Officers Davis and Treybeck) regarding safety and security and the importance of calling 911 to report all suspicious activity in your neighborhood, with comprehensive descriptions of persons involved. Lonny Stern requested that this same subject matter be discussed at the next Rosewood meeting. Old Busines ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Newsletter Lonny Stern discussed the recent release of the "Greater Rosewood, Summer 2009" publication and urged all neighborhood residents to submit content articles by October 15 for the Fall 2009 publication. He indicated it is not too late for all Rosewood neighborhoods to contact him if they would like to distribute the Summer 2009 newsletter to residents/businesses in their communities. East Side Fair Lonny Stern gave a slide presentation regarding the upcoming East Side Fair taking place at 12th & Chicon, Saturday, April 3, 2010, from noon to 6 p.m., highlighting the art, culture and food of East Austin. A launch party will take place at the Carver Museum on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. More information is available on-line at: www.eastsidefair.com Cap Metro News Dinita Caldwell/Cap Metro announced a grand opening event for a senior center/housing development at EM Franklin and East MLK, in East Austin, Saturday, September 26; the end of the Dillo service as of October 2, 2009; Metro Access/Special Transit Services will institute a new 30-minute pickup window; the end of the UT Huddle Shuttle due to budget constraints; "Destination" books are now available on-line; fares will accelerate August 2010, as opposed to January 2010; view new "Service Plan 2020" on-line at: www.capmetro.org, go to "Service Plan 2020" link; no official start date yet for Metro-Rail. Discussion ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Staryn Wagner, resident of Rosewood-Glen Oaks, currently works for the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department as a environmental scientist/freshwater ecologist, discussed offering lessons in composting (he was a master composter in Washington State) as well as informative creek walks along Boggy Creek on a bi-yearly basis, children and adults. Dusty McCormick announced City of Austin, Community Development Commission is looking for a volunteer representative for East Austin to serve on the commission; the meeting is Tuesday, September 29, 2009 6 p.m. to 7:30. Michael Emery requested a discussion during the October 2009 meeting of the RNCT non-profit status. *Meeting adjourned at 8 p.m.*
