6:25 PM | 1183 CHESTNUT NAMING REQUEST
Kenneth Thompson requested support for suggested names for new parks
structure at 1183 Chestnut that will serve the East Austin Youth
League. Recommended names appear in previous minutes on RNCT
yahoogroup. VOTE: RNCT supports names recommended by Kenneth Thompson.

Crime is down in the Central East District. Violent crime is down
7.8%. Year-to-date in Central East Area Command. Property crime is
down 11.8%. Year-to-date in Central East Area Command.

Three drug related offenses on a property can result in an abatement.
Property owner is notified after 3 offenses:
*    If renting, the renters must be removed.
*    If owners, continued drug offenses can result in property
     seizure.

Recommending a “Stay-Away” Order:
*    Effort would make it a condition of bond for specific offenders
     to “stay away” from a specific area where they were arrested or
     convicted of crime.

Central East Austin Command redistricting underway
*    New boundaries may include Ben White (south), I-35 (west), US183
	(east & north).
*    Area between East Cesar Chavez and 11th street to Chicon will be
     part of the Downtown Area Command. New boundaries provide
     additional resources w/minimal increase of service area.

     FREE Backpacks & School Supplies, presented by Travis County &
     Alicia Friday. Supplies for 1,200 students. Locations: Booker T.
     Washington, Springdale Gardens, Ridgeway, and Mason-Manor

*    Saturday, August 21 (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.):
     12th & Chicon Neighborhood Clean-up. Need 100 people.

*    Saturday, August 21 (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.):
     2th & Chicon Block Party

*    Tuesday, October 5:
     Citywide National Night Out in the Mueller neighborhood.
