Object Of Rotary
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society'

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

What Is Rotary?
Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary is the world's first service club.
The Rotary Foundation, each year provides some $60 million (in U.S. Dollars) for international scholarships, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian projects large and small that improve the quality of life for millions of people.
Polio Plus is Rotary's commitment to eradicate polio in the world. The number of cases of polio has declined by 99% since Rotary launched the PolioPlus program. In 1988, 10% of the world's children lived in polio-free countries; as of 1 July 2004, over 70% are living in polio-free countries. Over 210 countries, territories and areas are now polio free with the last case in the Americas in 1991 (Peru).
Rotary plans and carries-out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs that touch people's lives in their local communities and our work community.
Rotary is a membership-by-invitation organization, and is based upon vocational classification. Attendance at meetings is a basic obligation and a member may make up a meeting at any Rotary Club in the world.
