Mission and Vision: |
Rotary Core Values:
Rotary Four-Way Test: of the things we think, say or do
Object Of Rotary Founded in
Chicago in 1905, Rotary is the world's first service club. The Rotary
Foundation, each year provides some $60 million (in U.S. Dollars) for international
scholarships, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian projects large and small
that improve the quality of life for millions of people. Polio Plus is Rotary's commitment to eradicate polio in the world.
Polio is a disease which is entirely vaccine-preventable, with an alternative of having children
paralyzed for life. The vacine is available, so we face the ethical consequences when we fail
to protect future generations. The number of cases of polio has declined by 99% since
Rotary launched the PolioPlus program. In 1988, 10% of the world's children lived in polio-free
countries; as of 1 July 2004, over 70% are living in polio-free countries.
Over 210 countries, territories and areas are now polio free with the last case
in the Americas in 1991 (Peru). Link to: Latest Polio Status
