Welcome to the Rotary Club of East Austin. We are one of 14 clubs in the Greater Austin area. Our club is part of an association of more than 32,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. More than 1.2 million business and professional individuals constitute the membership of these clubs with the purpose of providing humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and building good will and peace in the world. Our people give life to the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self"  

Mission and Vision:

The mission of Rotary International, a world wide association of Rotary clubs, is to provide service to others, promote high ethical standards, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Eradicate polio
Advance the internal and external recognition and public image of Rotary International
Increase Rotary's capacity to provide service to others
Expand membership globally in both numbers and quality
Emphasize Rotary's unique vocational service committment
Optimize the use and development of leadership talents within Rotary International
Fully implement the stratigic planning process to ensure continuity and consistency throughout the organizaiton

Object Of Rotary
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society'

The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

What Is Rotary?
Rotary, the world's first service club was founded in Chicago in 1905.
The Rotary Foundation each year provides some $60 million (in U.S. Dollars) for international scholarships, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian projects large and small that improve the quality of life for millions of people.
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is a public-private partnership led by national governments and spearheaded by the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Its goal is to eradicate polio worldwide. At a glance:

Humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs: Rotary plans and carries-out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs that touch people's lives in their local communities and our work community.
Membership: Rotary is a membership-by-invitation organization, and is based upon vocational classification. Attendance at meetings is a basic obligation and a member may make up a meeting at any Rotary Club in the world.
