II. TREASURER'S REPORT/MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

-Lisa Schneider reported that current petty cash stands at $40.35. There is approximately $5 outstanding to the Northfield Neighborhood Association to cover their costs for the Koenig Lane 'write the City Council' flyers, so once that is covered, and including the additional night's contributions ($11.00), our petty cash now stands at $46.35.

-Lisa alerted everyone to the following events that the Neighborhood has received notice of over the past few weeks:
-the Blue Santa Program is looking for volunteers
-this weekend is the Northeast Community Harvest Fest: Saturday, November 18 (10am-4pm)at Bartholomew Park (corner of 51st and Berkman)
-the City of Austin's Neighborhood Academy has a number of free classes coming up for helping neighborhood associations on a variety of topics.

Anyone interested in further information on any of these events, please email or call us.

III. OLD BUSINESS

-Lisa gave a short update on the North Loop planning process (which includes the neighborhoods to the south of Koenig), including a short summary about what the process is. The North Loop Planning process is a couple months in at this point, and have just distributed their survey forms to all residences in their planning area. In particular, she encouraged people to ask her about the 'vision of the neighborhood' that the planning process produced. And she reminded people that people from our neighborhood are still welcome to provide input either through her or by attending their meetings on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Ridgetop Elementary.

III. KOENIG LANE PRESENTATION

-Clare Barry, Brentwood Neighborhood Association. Clare gave us an overview and current situation regarding the Koenig Lane expansion. The current situation as Clare understand it is that it is still possible that the City of Austin will take over maintenance responsibility for Koenig Lane. Three councilmembers are for the notion, the Mayor is against it, and Alvarez, Will Wynn and Daryl Slusher are not yet convinced either way. She believes that we should focus our letters on those three councilmembers.

The question and answer session shed new light on the situation. Eric Verret and Fred Daughtry informed us that they received notice from the City Water and Wastewater that they were going to be moving various utility hook-ups in December. They also believed that some additional right of way has been purchased from some of our neighbors and nearby businesses. (Does anyone have more information about this?) Several people pointed out that typically that means that the Texas Department of Transportation construction teams will be right behind them. Which means that the Koenig Lane expansion should already be out for bids and will be happening starting this spring.

This goes against the latest information Clare had from CAMPO meetings, so Barrie Cogburn will check with her TxDoT connections on whether the Koenig Lane expansion is indeed scheduled. She will also be collecting maintenance cost information to share with Clare as an aid in the process of getting the City to take responsibility for Koenig.

ADDITIONAL ACTION ITEM:

Eric Vormelker will contact the City Water and Wastewater or another source to get a drawing of the planned changes for Koenig. Lisa suggested we use the online discussion list for discussion of these items, to give us some sort of focus and direction as to what we want to do regarding Koenig.

V. CLOSING REMARKS AND DESSERT:-)

-Lisa listed off the following areas where we need folks to chip in:
-newsletter person(s)
-we have received some suggestions regarding decorating the neighborhood for the holidays as a neighborhood project. Looking for some folks to make it happen.
-and the idea of a party/potluck is still floating around out there.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS:

Here's some news that I'm sure several folks have been curious about: Janis Ehlinger learned what the situation is with the street lights on Koenig. We can thank the construction at I-35 and 290 for the 'temporary' blackout along our neighborhood entry road. According to the city, we can expect the lights to be out for another three weeks to two months. By the way (hint, hint:-), she used the Neighborhood Resources links on our website to find the phone number to call! Thank-you, Janis!

Tentatively, we scheduled the next meeting for the 2nd Tuesday in December (12th), but we are awaiting confirmation of space availability. We'll let you know when we know.
