and Strategies
Vision
We envision
the residents and government officials of Texas supporting
the social and political integration and self-sufficiency
of immigrants and refugees through public policies that facilitate
these processes.
Mission
To be
the advocate voice at the state level that addresses public
policies affecting the most vulnerable immigrant and refugee
populations of Texas, and to strengthen local advocacy, coalition-building
and public policy by building upon local organizational and
individual expertise.
Values
Every
individual is worthy of respect. All immigrants and refugees
have rights. All persons living in the United States should
have a voice.
Goal
To move
toward a stranger policy voice on the local, state, and national
level, while maintaining local advocacy and sharing expertise.
Objectives
Move toward
a stronger policy voice at the local, state, and national
levels in order to ensure the human dignity and civil rights
of immigrants and refugees.
Strengthen
local advocacy and coalition building to impact public policy
affecting the immigrant and refuge communities in Texas.
Share
policy expertise with local, state, and national organizations
to affect change on legislative and/or administrative policies.
Educate
the public and lawmakers as to how legislation addressed towards
immigrants and refugees impacts the quality of life of every
individual.
Create
awareness of the cultural and economic contributions of immigrants
and refugees in Texas.
Form strong
relations with mainstream and ethnic media sources in order
to disseminate information and accurately depict immigrants
and refugees.
