OUR PASTOR AND WIFE
Carl and Linda Harvey have been married for 35 years and have four wonderful children, Carl Jr. (Tenea), Christopher, LaChanda (Sheldon) Thompson, and Tabitha Guyton. God has blessed them with three beautiful grandchildren, Taryn, Carl, III, and Jalen.
Family and ministry continues to be a very important part of their lives and their family.
Carl Harvey, Jr. serves as Youth Pastor, Chris ministers through Music and their Son-in-law is an Associate Minister at the church as well.
Pastor Harvey is a seminary graduate and was ordained as a minister by the later Rev. E. M. Franklin, over 20 years ago. He has served as Youth Director, Men's Bible Instructor, an Assistant to the Pastor and an Interim Pastor prior to organizing Turning Point.
Linda serves as Director of the Women's Ministry and works diligently to encourage and support women as they grow together in the Lord. Her 2003 retirement from Austin Independent School District after 29 years as Math Instructor, enables her to give full service her family, the church and other community ministries.
Carl and Linda have served together in a Marriage Ministry for over 20 years and continue to provide Marriage Enrichment workshops and counseling for couples.
On September 2, 1996, the Holy Spirit affirmed God's leading to Rev. Carl Harvey, Sr. about organizing a church. With much prayer and labor, on Sunday, September 29, 1996 at
4:00 pm, a body of Christians came together for a worship service and an organizational period.
Rev. W. R. Jasper, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church moderated and thus began the life of
Turning Point Bible Fellowship Church.
Pastor Harvey's focus at Turning Point is "Reaching People for Christ" and "Equipping them for Ministry". He devotes a great deal of his time in one-to-one discipleship, teaching Bible studies, conducting Sunday Morning teaching/training and preaching the word of God.
