WEEKLY UPDATE:
Please read all...
Scouts and Scouters,
We have a very busy meeting planned for Tuesday, May 13.
6:15 - 7:15 PIT Meeting (first year scouts)
PITs will work on advancement with their Patrol Guides and ASM Bill Pitts.
6:30 - 7:15 First Class requirement 5, Visit with a Community Leader
Only if you are working towards First Class and need requirement 5, read on -- Mr. Sean Breen, a distinguished local attorney, will lead a discussion on our Constitutional rights and obligations as US citizens. In addition to receiving many professional awards, Mr. Breen earned his Eagle Scout rank at our very own Troop 410. He is an excellent communicator and this will be a fun and informative discussion.
7:15 - 8:30 Troop Meeting
Scouts will be completing requirements for rank advancement including Scoutmaster Conferences and Board of Reviews.
7:00 - 7:15 Introduction to Board of Review for Parents
For all new committee members (aka registered parents), Tom McClure will walk you through the Board of Review process so you can participate in this important step for scout's rank advancement. It's a great way to get involved with the troop, get to know other the scouts and learn about the troop from a scout's point a view. To get a head start, go to http://main.org/troop410/library.htm and open "Troop 410 Board of Review Orientation".
PARENT PARTICIPATION NEEDED
We need 9 committee members to participate in Board of Reviews on Tuesday. We always have a rush of boys completing rank advancement prior to the Court of Honor. To help get all of them through we need parents to participate in Board of Reviews. Contact Tom McClure at mccluretom@aol.com if can participate.
7:15 - 7:50 Buffalo Trail Summer Camp Parent's meeting
All parent's of scouts attending Buffalo Trail summer camp need to attend to learn what to expect, what to bring and ask questions.
It's bring your spouse night -- If your scout is going to BTSR summer camp, one parent can attend the parent meeting and the other can help out with Board of Reviews or record keeping.

Editorial Section
There is a flurry of activity as scouts are trying to complete rank advancements before the Court of Honor. While we encourage scouts to achieve, I thought it would be a good time to pass on a few tidbits.
It is not a race. All the boys do not need to advance at the same time. Each boy should progress at their own pace. A lot of boys have sports, band, and other activities that sometimes interfere with scouting activities. That's okay. We'll provide ample opportunities for all scouts to complete advancement throughout the year.
Scouts can advance at any time. While we use the Court of Honor to recognize scouts in a formal setting in front of their parents, they actually earn their ranks as soon as they complete their Board of Review. So if they don't get everything done by Tuesday, they don't have to wait until the next Court of Honor to advance to the next rank, they can finish at Summer Camp or at any Troop meeting.
Relax and enjoy. The most important thing is that the boys have fun while learning and growing in scouting. The last thing we want is for any scout to get discouraged or drop out because they feel the are falling behind.
YiS,
Patrick Hill
Committee Chair
