These 1917 doors from the main entrance to Old Central High School
have been rescued by the Class of 1943 and were open again for the
50th reunion.
Rescuers are, from left, Vergie Bittle Tucker, JoAnn Perry Huffman,
Jerry Carman, Jean Paul, Riley Foyil and Beryl Ford.
The Class of 1943 held their 50th reunion September 3, 1993 at the
Doubletree Hotel in Tulsa.
Class of 1943 was the first class to contribute (about $4000) to a project
at the new Central, called "The Walk Of Fame."
One of our members "Garvin Berry" started this project.
Tulsa Historian Beryl Ford is a

Class

Beryl has the original north

warehouse along with well over
100,000 documents, pictures etc.

keeping the Class together and organizing the reunions,
dinners, Class meetings, monthly lunches, etc. Thanks
Jo Ann for all your hard work over many, many years.
We hope you stay on until the 60th reunion at least.
Jo Ann also helps get the Class newsletter written,
printed and mailed.
Jeanne (Redden) Paul
Jeanne, a real estate agent and class member,
gets credit
for recognizing the doors during a tour of a house she was
selling. She saw them in the basement. The owner of the
house was moving and leaving the doors behind because
they were too heavy and expensive to move. Jeanne asked
whether they were the main doors to Old Central, that closed
1976. The owner said they were and offered them to her if
she could find someone who wanted them. "I knew just the
man to call. So I gave Beryl Ford a ring and like the U.S.
Calvary, he rescued them in 30 minutes." Jeanne said.
Jeanne was a Class Senator and was an accomplished
ice skater.
Virgie (Bittle) Tucker
