NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCES PAGE
I want to put up on the site a page with local resources for babysitting, lawn mowing, handyman help, etc. that people in Walnut Crossing can offer to each other. If you are interested in being listed, or better yet, have someone you can RECOMMEND as a great handyman, painter, gardener, etc., lets get them on a page.
MOWING THE EASEMENT
I have proposed getting a local kid or two in the neighborhood to mow the easement along Amherst every two or three weeks during the summer months. This would require the neighbors on Grimsley to contribute some dollars per month. Please if you live on Grimsley, print out and return the questionaire. Return it to Susan Andrews at 12102 Grimsley (she has a special mailbox next to her door for walnuts). Please ask your Grimsley neighbors to think about this idea. We already have several offers from local kids to do the job.

MASONITE SIDING LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT
It has come to my attention that the MASONITE SIDING used in the construction of Walnut Crossing homes is the subject of a CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT that was approved by the district court in 1998. The siding, as we all know, is horrible stuff. The good news is that Masonite has agreed to pay for replacement (material AND labor) of all defective siding panels in homes built between 1980 and 1998. Obviously, they have not gone out of their way to advertise this. If you are interested in the details on this lawsuit and how to submit your claim, check out these two websites:

HOME SIDING SETTLEMENT ASSISTANCE
If enough people are interested in pursuing this, we can form an ad-hoc committee to prepare the paperwork, or there are several individuals in Austin who will do the paperwork for you. I know of one who will not charge you until and unless you collect any money. I may have someone come and make a presentation on this to the general meeting if there is some interest.
DEED RESTRICTIONS
I have received a copy of the Deed Restrictions that were the subject of much debate at our first meeting (thanks Pat). There is nothing really ominous in them, they prohibit mining, drilling for oil and stuff like that, and set minimum sizes for dwellings. There are a few things that may help us regarding maintaining the easements. Folks that are interested can review them by downloading the following PDF files. (Sorry, but I didn't know how to save them all as one PDF file, if Kernan can do this, lemme know)
