We would love to have everyone in the neighborhood stop by and get information about some of the non-profit organizations in the city of Austin and enjoy the activities that we will be having. Some of the activities include a performance from a Ballet Folklotico, a local clown, a radio remote, and many other performances from local schools in the area. Neighborhood Night Out (NNO) 2007Tuesday, August 7, 6PM - 9PM -- wiki page - PHOTOS!North Acres Park From Beth Gleason: On a clear and warm August evening over 140 neighbors gathered together with lawn chairs in tow at our own North Acres Park for Austin's annual "Neighborhood Night Out" (NNO) event. The new gathering space was breezy and temperate, and this year we were supplied with a microphone & PA, courtesy of neighbor Lowell Rice. "State of the neighborhood" reports were graciously given by our own Police Dept. officer, Jimmy Diaz, as well as the Fire Department. Children enjoyed climbing aboard the fire engine supplied by the Rundberg fire station and staff. The merchants bordering our neighborhood donated over 30 gift certificates and Walter Toll supplied the HEB-donated ice cream with all the fixin's; watermelon was donated by Patty Sylvana. It was nice to see so many young couples with children join us this year, along with our long-time residents....Many THANKS to the NNO Committee who worked so diligently in putting all the details of the event together, from finding the right person to cut the park lawn to being persistent in getting all those gift certificates from our merchant neighbors. If you met a new neighbor or had a chance to chat with an old one at this year's NNO, be sure to wave the next time you see them in the neighborhood....and we'll see you at next years' Neighborhood Night Out! Thanks to the NNO Committee: Kim Foster, Faye Holland, Walter Toll, Larisssa Radionov, Patty Sylvana, Cynthia Konkle, J. G. Butler, D. Lam, Lowell & Veronica Rice, Joyce Smith, Marie Cervelli, Carol Gresser, Tamie Hunt, Ardeth Still, Ramon Trevino and Beth Gleason. Thanks to the neighborhood merchants who donated gift certificates: Bennigan's, Chili's, Antonio's, Applebee's, Red Lobster, Wendy's, Extended Stay Hotels, MacDonald's, Shell Signature Store, Enterprise Car rental, HSBC Credit Center, Fantastic Sam's, Hollywood Video, Sprint (and Mrs. Still who donated several surprise wrapped gifts at the event!)
